Exam Scheme:
Scheme
The examination will be conducted in two rounds. The Preliminary round will be held at the schools concerned if the entry at each level is minimum 25 students, The best one out of 25 will qualify for the final round of exam to be held at the Regional Headquarters. If the enrolment is in the multiples of 25, students are selected as per the total number of enrolment at each level.(If there are 100 students at level one, 4 will be selected for the final round). In the event of a tie, the winner will be selected, based upon the number of additional questions attempted and solved correctly. This decision will have to be taken by the Chief Coordinator concerned. The final round will be held at the designated Regional Headquarters Chennai, Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, Madurai, Nagercoil, Pondicherry, Salem, Thanjavur, Trichy, Thirunelveli and Vellore.

Examination Fee:
Each participant should pay Rs. 30/- towards entry fee. However there is a special discount accessible to all schools in case of maximum registration. Kindly note,
30% of the amount can be retained by the school from the fee collection for evaluation and courier charges.
Payment should be made only thro’ the Principal / HM of the school concerned by demand draft drawn in favour of The Organizer, Velammal’s State Level Science Talent Search Exam. Payable at Chennai.
Single Entry is not accepted
Cash accepted only from centers in Chennai.

Eligibility
The Students of Classes I to XII of all boards studying in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry are eligible to participate.

Guidelines to Examination Centers:
• The Head of the Institution (Principal or HM) will be the Chief Coordinator for the Velammal’s state Level Science Talent Search Exam (Preliminary round)
• The Participating School will be the venue for the preliminary round of the exam.
• The Question papers will be sent to the respective schools before 20-10-2010 (Wednesday). In case the question papers are not received on or before 4:00 PM on 20-10-2010 please contact 044-26561166 / 044-65161966.
• There is a fixed date for the preliminary examination(23-10-2010) and the school which violates this rule will be disqualified.
• After conducting the exam, the coding sheets have to be evaluated by the concerned school with the help of the answer key provided with the question papers.
• The seal on the packet containing the question paper bundle is to be strictly broken only in the presence of the Chief Coordinator or the Coordinator nominated by the Principal/HM.
• The Coordinators are asked to use separate entry forms for each level for the purpose of registration. 30% of the amount paid can be retained by the school from the fee collection for evaluation and courier charges.

Exam Date Significant Dates& Venue
Instructions to Candidates:
1. The Medium of Examination Will be English
2. The question paper contains 100 questions and 20 additional questions. Participants of Level I (Std. I & II) will answer only 75 questions. In the event of a tie, the winner will be selected, based on the number of additional questions attempted and solved correctly.
3. The duration of the test is 90 minutes.
4. For each question there are five suggested answers. Mark “X” in the box provided under the choices A, B, C, D and E for the correct answer in the coding sheet.
5. Mark only one answer for each question.
6. Ball point pen (black / blue) should be used for marking the answers.
7. Rough work should be done only in the space provided in the question paper.
8. Each correct answer carries one mark.
9. Students can take the question paper home after the completion of the test for their reference.
10. Entries must reach the organizer only through the concerned school Principal/ HM.
11. Single entry is not permitted.
